Film Poster - "Trees"

This is the original image that i took for the film poster before I adjusted the brightness, colour, contrast and other alterations I did before the final outcome was produced.

The brief for this poster was:
“You are a member of an advertising company who has been commissioned to come up with a rough finished copy of an A4 poster for a genre based product: A horror film
Called THE TREES: tagline…… ‘DON’T GO DOWN TO THE WOODS TODAY’.”

For
this poster I took a photograph using by knowledge of digital photography and using Photoshop I manipulated the image and added text to come up with the font and positioning for the tagline and title for the film.
And this is the final outcome for my poster:

Using Digital Film Cameras

I learned how to use a digital film camera in a Media Studies lesson through photography, from this I developed the skill of taking photos in C.U, E.C.U, M.S, L.S, W.S, LOW ANGLE and HIGH ANGLE.

The M on the camera screen is manual setting.
The number 50 is the shutter speed (this is the speed in which the shutter is opening and closing in the process of taking the photograph). You can change the shutter speed by turning the wheel.
F2.8 is the F-stop or Aperture; this is like the camera eye, this being the pinhole for the camera where light is let in. Therefore if you want to take a photo of the moon at night, you would need to let a lot of light in so you would increase the Aperture.
The lines that divide the screen into 9 sections are the lines that divide it up into the rule of thirds.

Why I chose Media Studies

I have started AS media studies because I am interested in the subject and wish to be involved in either the production or post-production stages of film when I leave school.
I became interested in media studies from doing a work placement with various film/website companies in Soho during the summer break. I got to experience the environment in which they work in and became automatically attracted to it. Consequently I am taking the subject to further my knowledge of the media industry in order to have a career in it when I leave school.
Therefore my aim for the 2 years in this subject is to come out with a high grade A and the experience I need to be successful in the film industry.
